CMR Research Day 2012
A CMR student research day for 2012 was held on the 1st of November at the Old Mutual House (Constantia, Cape Town). This day afforded postgraduate students from the centre a platform to present their work to their supervisors and fellow students as well as visiting academics involved in the field of mineral processing.
The morning and afternoon sessions were preceded by two keynote addresses which focused on the theme of sustainability in mining. The first keynote address, entitled ‘21st century mining’ was delivered by Prof. Ray Shaw while the second, ‘Sustainable Development- Securing our future’ was delivered by John Tustin.
A total of 22 presentations were given by the students, of which Margreth Tadie and Constance Nyambayo were awarded the distinction of best presentation for the full length and short oral categories respectively.
Other guests of honour at the event were Prof. Sandy Lambert and Bert Knopjes.
