New Director for CMR
New Director for the Centre for Minerals Research at the University of Cape Town
I am writing to inform you that my colleague Professor Dave Deglon has been appointed as the AngloAmerican Platinum Professor of Minerals Processing and will assume the position of Director of the Centre for Minerals Research (CMR) as from 1 January 2013. The Centre is located in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCT and Professor Deglon will be a full member of the Department as well as being the Director of the Centre.
I am personally delighted that Professor Deglon has accepted appointment to this Chair and also as the Director of the CMR. His appointment ensures that the Centre will enjoy the benefits of his outstanding leadership and will undoubtedly go from strength to strength in the years ahead! Professor Deglon enjoys an excellent international reputation for his research in minerals processing and his work has always been characterised by being most rigorous and precise in its quality and at the same time of enormous relevance to the industry. I know that he enjoys great support and respect within the Department of Chemical Engineering, within the CMR, and among our industrial partners/sponsors and I have no doubt that under his leadership the Centre will flourish and continue to strengthen its international reputation for the high quality and relevance of its research.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for the great support you have given the Centre in the past and I am sure that you will continue to give Professor Deglon the same degree of support in the years ahead. The Centre has grown in size and stature over the past many years and I have no doubt that under his leadership it will make an even greater contribution, both locally and globally, to the discipline of Minerals Processing.
With best wishes and kind regards
