Dr Aubrey Mainza promoted to Associate Professor
Dr Aubrey Mainza of the Centre for Minerals Research has received an ad hominem promotion to the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering, a post which will take effect from January 2013.
Aubrey Mainza is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Cape Town (UCT). He graduated from UCT with a PhD in 2006. He has 11 years of collective experience in academia, research and industry. He is the head of comminution research in the Centre for Minerals Research, which is a large multi-disciplinary research centre. His research areas include comminution and classification, Discrete element modelling, computational fluid dynamics, and positron emission particle tracking methods. He is an active supervisor of postgraduate students and has published widely in the international mineral processing literature. He is the chairperson for the International Comminution Researchers Association and holds the chair for the African Chapter of the same association. He is a member of the steering committee for PEPT Cape Town, a facility established in Cape Town for studying flow behaviour in different systems and also for medical research.
